Switching

Switching From Toast

Most restaurants that leave Toast do it over cost structure or contract terms, not features. Whatever the reason, the mechanics are the same.

Switching

How the switch runs

  1. Check the contract first

Term length and early termination drive your timing.

  2. Hardware

Toast hardware doesn't move to another platform. Budget for new.

  3. Menu rebuild

Export your menu, then rebuild it properly rather than importing a mess.

  4. Integrations

List every connected app and confirm replacements first.

  5. Gift cards

Balances need a plan before you cut over.

  6. Timing

    Off-season, mid-week, never before a holiday.

01

The contract question comes first

Find your term end date and notice period before anything else. Sometimes waiting eight weeks to switch saves a significant termination cost, and it doesn't change the outcome.

02

Treat the menu as a rebuild, not a migration

Menus accumulate junk — dead items, duplicate modifiers, workarounds. A switch is the best chance you'll get to clean it up. Export as a reference and rebuild deliberately.

  • Remove items that don't sell
  • Rationalize modifier groups
  • Fix pricing inconsistencies
  • Rebuild for fewer taps

03

Map your integrations

Online ordering, delivery apps, reservations, accounting, payroll. List them all, confirm each has an equivalent on the new platform, and set them up before go-live rather than after.

04

What we handle

Menu build, hardware setup, integration configuration, staff training on your real service, and being reachable during your first week.

What you get

Equipment at no cost, free setup, no long-term contract.

Every business we set up gets the same thing: the hardware they need at no cost to them, the configuration and training done for you, and a real person to call afterward — without being locked into a multi-year agreement.

01

No long-term contract required

Flexible month-to-month terms are available on both platforms. You stay because the system works, not because a three-year agreement says you have to.

02

Equipment at no cost to you

Terminals, stations, printers and readers provided at no cost while you process with us. The equipment stays ours — if you ever move to another provider, you simply send it back.

03

Free setup, on site or remote

Catalog and menu build, modifiers, hardware placement, permissions, reports and hands-on staff training. Included, not billed hourly.

04

Ongoing support with no hidden fees

A direct line to the person who configured your system. Menu changes, new hardware, new staff, a report that stopped making sense — no support tier to buy.

How the equipment works

To be straight with you: the equipment isn't a giveaway. We provide the hardware your business needs at no cost to you while you process with us, and it stays ours — if you ever decide to move to a different provider, you simply return it. We look at every business we work with as a partner, and we're invested in your success, not in locking you into a box you paid for. And yes, if you want your rates compared side by side with what you pay today, we'll do that too.

FAQ

Questions we get

Can I keep my Toast hardware?

No. Plan on new hardware as part of the switch cost.

How long does the menu take?

A simple menu is a day or two. A large one with heavy modifiers takes a week of back and forth. It's worth doing right.

What about my customer and loyalty data?

Customer lists usually export. Loyalty point balances often don't transfer cleanly — we'll plan how to honor them.
